Draft Indicator Reports

Indicators have been used to report on Great Lakes ecosystem components since the first SOLEC in 1994. In 2010, the Great Lakes indicator suite was reviewed by experts to deliver an improved, updated and representative indicator suite that reports on the state of the Great Lakes in a comprehensive, understandable and science-based manner. As a result of this review, reporting categories and some individual indicators have changed. A Summary of the Great Lakes Indicator Review is available for those that would like more information on the review process.

Draft State of the Great Lakes 2012 indicator reports are available for SOLEC participants in advance of the conference. These reports are prepared by hundreds of authors and contributors from a wide-range of agencies and organizations. This information is used to assist with assessing the overall state of the Great Lakes.

Comments on these draft materials will be invited through January 31, 2012. The final indicator reports will be posted online at www.binational.net in the winter of 2012.

The following indicator reports are available for download (please note the indicators are arranged by category as well as in alphabetic order).
